About the project
Who Lived in my street in 1916 was Hebden Bridge Arts Festival's hugely popular Heritage Lottery Funded project which tasked the local community with finding out who lived in their house, their street a 100 years ago at the midpoint of the first World War.
There were several projects within the main project which aimed to appeal to a broad cross section of the local community. You can visit the galleries for these via the menu on the right.
The After Alice Project was invited to make a photographic record of some aspects of the project on film, both 35mm and 120 roll film (which was in use in 1916). In the spirit of the project and in the interest of archival longevity the images were shot in black and white. All of the negatives for these photos are stored to archival standards and will be viewable in many hundreds of years time.
